Using humor in whiteboard animation
Published · Reviewed · 7 min read
Whiteboard animation is naturally suited to a certain kind of humor: a serious statement can be undercut by a tiny visual detail, a diagram can take an unexpected turn, or a drawing can reveal the answer a beat later than the audience expects.
That does not mean every explainer needs jokes. Humor is useful when it lowers resistance, makes a familiar problem recognizable, or gives the viewer a memorable visual shorthand. It is harmful when it delays the answer, targets the audience, or makes an important instruction feel optional.
