Create with Mobile Lite

Mobile Lite is Scribe Animator's touch-first editing workspace for narrow screens. It uses the same project, scene, timeline, animation, camera, drawing, audio, and export domains as the desktop editor, but presents one focused sheet at a time.

Use Mobile Lite when you want to create or revise a short project on a phone or tablet. Use the desktop editor when you need several panels visible at once, very precise pointer work, or prolonged editing of a large project.

Before you start

  • Rotate to portrait for the layout shown in this guide.
  • Allow file, microphone, or download permission only when you deliberately use that feature.
  • Keep large imports, model downloads, and exports in the foreground.
  • Save or export a .scribe backup before device cleanup, reinstalling, or clearing site data.
  • Start with the demo project if you want to explore without changing your own work.

Tour the workspace

Mobile Lite empty project with numbered top bar, canvas, quick actions, timeline, transport, and bottom navigation
The default Mobile Lite workspace at a 430 × 932 viewport.
Screenshot callouts
  1. Project menu
Tap the project name to create, open, save, configure, or get help.
  2. Undo and redo
Revert or restore the latest supported editing command.
  3. Export
Open the mobile video export settings.
  4. Canvas
Select, move, resize, rotate, or inspect visible scene objects.
  5. Timeline handle
Expand the timing workspace when you need object or draw timing.
  6. Play and scrub
Preview the project or drag the playhead to inspect a time.
  7. Primary tools
Open Draw, Text, Assets, or the current Scene; the center action controls playback.

Top bar

  • Project name and chevron: opens project-wide actions.
  • Save state: AUTOSAVED means the current local change queue has settled; UNSAVED CHANGES means the latest edit still needs saving.
  • Undo / Redo: operates on supported editing history. A disabled button means there is no matching history entry.
  • Export: opens video settings without leaving the project.

Canvas controls

  • Focus view: fits the useful scene area into the available viewport.
  • Zoom percentage: shows the current canvas zoom.
  • Camera icon: opens camera controls or camera preview behavior where available.
  • Object selection: tap an object once. The selection box and object toolbar expose the actions valid for that object.
  • Transform: drag an object to move it; use selection handles to resize or rotate when the selected object supports them.
  • Blank-canvas shortcuts: Text, Assets, Draw, and AI Voiceover are quick entry points. They open the same feature owners used elsewhere in Mobile Lite.

Stop playback before selecting or precisely transforming objects.

Manage the project

Tap the project name in the top-left corner.

Mobile Lite Project Menu with numbered New, Open, Save, Settings, Demo, Project Files, Account, Help, and Legal sections
Project-wide operations stay separate from object editing.
Screenshot callouts
  1. New
Starts a new project after any applicable unsaved-work confirmation.
  2. Open
Opens an existing project through the supported picker.
  3. Save
Saves the project through the current local workflow.
  4. Settings
Changes project-level properties such as canvas/output settings.
  5. Demo and project files
Open the demo project or enter project-file import, export, and library actions.
  6. Account
Opens sign-in, plan, and account actions.
  7. Help and legal
Support, tutorial, privacy, terms, and AI/legal information.
  1. Use New only after protecting work you want to keep.
  2. Use Open for a project exposed by the current device picker.
  3. Use Save before a risky import, scene deletion, or long export.
  4. Use Settings before arranging many objects; changing the canvas later can affect framing.
  5. Use Open Demo Project for a deterministic learning project.
  6. Open Project Files for local/library and .scribe import or export actions.
  7. Open Account for sign-in and entitlement state.
  8. Use Help & Support for tutorials, support, or bug reporting.
  9. Use AI & Legal to review terms relevant to generated content and app usage.

Add and edit text

Tap Text in the bottom bar or on the empty canvas.

Mobile Lite Text sheet with numbered Library, Custom, Equation, search, category filters, and text cards
Start from a library design, type custom text, or create an equation.
Screenshot callouts
  1. Library
Browse ready-made text blocks and presets.
  2. Custom
Type your own text and configure it directly.
  3. Equation
    Opens mathematical equation authoring.
  4. Search
Filters library entries by supported title or metadata.
  5. Categories
Switch among All, Blocks, and Presets.
  6. Text card
Tap a card to add that designed text object or group to the scene.
Mobile Lite canvas after inserting a text block, with three child objects selected and the Group action available
A designed text block can arrive as several selected objects. Group them before moving the composition as one unit.
Screenshot callouts
  1. Context guidance
Explains what the current selection represents and the safest next action.
  2. Selection count
Confirms that the inserted block currently consists of three independently selected objects.
  3. Group
Combines the selected members so subsequent move and transform gestures preserve their relationship.
  4. Selected text-block members
The dashed bounds show each constituent object. Verify all intended members are selected before grouping.

Add library text

  1. Leave Library selected.
  2. Search or choose All, Blocks, or Presets.
  3. Tap a card such as a title/subtitle block.
  4. Close the sheet if it remains open.
  5. Tap the inserted object on the canvas.
  6. Move and resize it while watching the canvas edges.
  7. Open the selected object's text controls to edit content, typography, alignment, or color where supported.

Some cards insert a group containing several text and vector elements. The group moves as one unit. Use Ungroup only when you need to edit members separately; grouping again may not recover the original semantic block.

Add custom text or an equation

  • Choose Custom, type the content, then use the available typography controls before or after insertion.
  • Choose Equation for mathematical notation. Verify the rendered equation at the final export size because thin symbols can become hard to read.

Add images, backgrounds, audio, vectors, and shapes

Tap Assets. The active category determines which browser or import controls appear.

Mobile Lite Assets sheet with numbered search, category tabs, local vector import, Process action, and recoverable drawings error
The Assets sheet combines packaged libraries and controlled local import.
Screenshot callouts
  1. Search
    Filters the active asset library.
  2. Asset categories
Switch among Images, Backgrounds, Audio, Vectors, and Shapes.
  3. Choose File
Select a supported SVG or image from the device.
  4. Process
Runs the validated import/processing flow for the selected file.
  5. Retry
Retries a failed remote or packaged library request without discarding the project.

Use a packaged asset

  1. Select Images, Backgrounds, Audio, Vectors, or Shapes.
  2. Search or browse the shown categories.
  3. Tap the desired asset.
  4. Wait for it to appear on the canvas or in the audio workflow.
  5. Select and transform visual objects; preview audio objects.

Import a local vector or image

  1. Choose the relevant category.
  2. Tap Choose File.
  3. Select only a file you trust.
  4. Confirm the selected filename.
  5. Tap Process.
  6. Wait for validation and preprocessing.
  7. Inspect the imported result at several zoom levels.

Do not repeatedly tap Process during a large import. A malformed SVG, unsupported encoding, very large bitmap, low device memory, or plan limit can prevent import.

If a public library displays Failed to load:

  1. keep the sheet open;
  2. confirm the device is online;
  3. tap Retry once;
  4. use a packaged or local asset if the service remains unavailable; and
  5. do not reload until the current project is saved.

Build the story with scenes

Tap Scene in the bottom-right navigation.

Mobile Lite Scenes sheet with numbered New Scene, scene card, reorder handle, duration menu, duplicate, and delete controls
A scene is one timed story beat with its own objects and camera state.
Screenshot callouts
  1. New Scene
Adds a separate scene after the existing sequence.
  2. Scene card
Tap to activate a scene and edit its canvas objects.
  3. Reorder handle
Drag to change scene order where touch reordering is available.
  4. Duplicate
Clones the scene and its supported object/timeline data.
  5. Delete
Removes the scene after confirmation and cleans up its timing data.
  • Use New Scene when the story, layout, background, or camera framing changes.
  • Use Duplicate when the next scene should begin from a similar composition.
  • Use the scene's overflow controls to adjust supported metadata such as duration.
  • Reorder only after checking narration and transition timing.
  • Delete carefully: scene objects, timeline tracks, keys, and scene bindings can be removed together.

The footer reports total duration, scene count, and object count. Use it as a quick sanity check after duplicating or deleting.

Preview and use the timeline

The large center button plays or pauses. Drag the scrubber to inspect a precise time. Tap Timeline to expand the timing area.

Expanded Mobile Lite timeline with numbered selected object, Draw and Animate tabs, object rows, playhead, scrubber, and transport
Expanded timing view for a scene containing text, vector, and grouped objects.
Screenshot callouts
  1. Selected object
The dashed box identifies the current canvas selection.
  2. Draw and Animate
Open the shot planner or object motion editor.
  3. Object timing rows
Each row represents an object or group with its motion/draw timing.
  4. Playhead
Shows the inspected project time across the timeline.
  5. Scrubber
Drag to seek; the time display shows current and total duration.
  6. Transport
Play/pause from the current time; it restarts when playback has completed.

Timing workflow

  1. Add and select an object.
  2. Expand Timeline.
  3. Tap the matching row if selection needs to be restored.
  4. Scrub to the intended start time.
  5. Open Animate for motion or Draw for reveal planning.
  6. Preview from before the change.
  7. Collapse the timeline to regain canvas space.

A grouped text design appears as both member rows and a group row. Edit the group for whole-block motion. Ungroup only when individual members need independent motion.

Animate a selected object

Select an object, expand the timeline, and tap Animate.

Mobile Lite Animate sheet with numbered motion preset, start mode, seconds, duration, easing, extra motion, and keyframe controls
Presets are the fastest path; keyframes provide detailed timing and values.
Screenshot callouts
  1. Motion preset
Choose an entrance or motion recipe; None removes the preset.
  2. Start
Begin at the playhead or at an explicit time in seconds.
  3. Duration
Controls how long the preset takes.
  4. Feel
Select easing such as Ease Out to shape acceleration.
  5. Extra motion
Adds another property movement to the selected object.
  6. Keyframes
    Opens detailed time-and-value editing.
  1. Choose a Motion preset.
  2. Set At Playhead to align it with the current scrubber time, or choose Seconds and enter an exact start.
  3. Set Duration.
  4. Choose the Feel (easing).
  5. Preview the result.
  6. Use Add extra motion only if the story needs a second property change.
  7. Use Add Keyframes for precise values instead of stacking many presets.

Avoid simultaneous large position, scale, rotation, camera, and draw changes unless the effect is intentional. Motion should clarify the story.

Plan drawing animation

Open Draw from the expanded timeline.

Mobile Lite Shot Planner with numbered drawing setup, planning method, Plan steps, object settings, and draw-step count
The Shot Planner schedules how drawable vector content is revealed.
Screenshot callouts
  1. Drawing setup
Review or change hand, tool, scale, mirror, and related scene settings.
  2. Planning method
Choose how automatic planning should distribute the draw steps.
  3. Plan steps
Generates or updates draw steps from eligible content.
  4. Object settings
Opens overrides for a selected drawable object.
  5. Draw steps
Shows the generated step count and detailed schedule below.

The planner needs eligible drawable vector content. Raster images and ordinary text may not produce useful stroke steps unless converted or represented by supported drawing data.

  1. Add or select a drawable vector.
  2. Open Draw.
  3. Review Drawing setup and tap Change if the hand/tool presentation is wrong.
  4. Pick the planning method.
  5. Tap Plan steps.
  6. Confirm the non-zero step count.
  7. Open supported object overrides only when one object needs a different treatment.
  8. Preview from the start.

Configure the scene camera

Open the camera action from the canvas/timeline controls.

Mobile Lite Camera Controls with numbered summary, scene camera mode, Preview Camera, and triggered camera actions
The scene camera changes framing during playback; it does not move the underlying objects.
Screenshot callouts
  1. Scene summary
Shows effective camera, current mode, scene range, and selected object.
  2. Scene camera mode
Choose Off or an available fixed/tracking/follow behavior.
  3. Preview Camera
Previews committed camera behavior; it is unavailable while mode is Off.
  4. Triggered actions
Lists camera moves attached to draw steps or objects.
  1. Check the scene range.
  2. Select a camera mode.
  3. Configure the mode-specific target and framing controls that appear.
  4. Use Preview Camera.
  5. Review triggered actions so automatic step-based moves do not conflict with the scene camera.
  6. Return to Off when you need a static frame.

If no object is selected, object-follow modes cannot resolve a target. If Preview Camera is unavailable, first choose a mode and commit valid settings.

Generate AI voiceover

Tap AI Voiceover from the blank canvas or audio/asset surface.

Mobile Lite AI Voiceover sheet with numbered voice, speed, script, Generate, and Add to scene controls
Generate first, review the result, then add it to the intended scene.
Screenshot callouts
  1. Voice
Chooses an available local or configured synthesis voice.
  2. Speed
    Adjusts speaking rate before generation.
  3. Script
Enter only the narration that should be spoken.
  4. Generate
Creates a preview; disabled until requirements are satisfied.
  5. Add to scene
Adds the reviewed generated audio to the active scene.
  1. Choose a voice.
  2. Set the speaking speed.
  3. Enter the script without secrets or personal data.
  4. Tap Generate and wait for model/audio processing.
  5. Preview the result when offered.
  6. Tap Add to scene.
  7. Open the timeline, play through the scene, and adjust visual timing to narration.

Voice and model availability depends on platform assets, configuration, memory, and download state. Generated voice is not a substitute for consent when imitating a real person.

Export from Mobile Lite

Tap the top-right Export button.

Mobile Lite Export Video sheet with numbered format, resolution, frame rate, quality, output estimate, plan note, and Export action
Mobile Lite exposes the same delivery decisions in a touch-friendly sheet.
Screenshot callouts
  1. Format
Select the available video container and codec.
  2. Resolution
Choose project size or a standard size subject to plan limits.
  3. Frame rate
    Choose the playback frame rate.
  4. Quality
Sets compression quality and estimated bitrate.
  5. Effective output
Review actual dimensions and estimated file size before export.
  6. Plan limit
Explains a resolution clamp or watermark before rendering.
  7. Export
Starts the local render; keep the app open until completion.

Review Output rather than assuming the requested resolution will be used. The current free plan limits export to 720p and includes a watermark. Export a short test, play the downloaded file, and only then make the final render.

Mobile limitations and safer alternatives

  • Only one focused sheet is normally visible, so close it before selecting something hidden behind it.
  • Touch transforms are less precise than desktop pointer/keyboard editing.
  • Desktop keyboard shortcuts do not apply.
  • Very large images, complex SVGs, long timelines, local AI models, and high-frame-rate exports can exceed mobile memory.
  • File pickers, downloads, sharing, microphone access, and native encoding differ across mobile web, iOS, and Android.
  • Remote asset libraries need network access; local/package assets can remain usable when already available.
  • Some desktop inspector controls are condensed or omitted. Reopen the project on desktop for advanced adjustments.
  • Do not background the app during import, generation, or export.
